Medium risk confined space entry & rescue training is for those individuals or companies who face confined spaces that have been risked assessed and categorised as medium risk.  I.e. there is a medium chance of one or more of the 5 specified risks being present within the confined space (as designated by the Confined Space Regulations 1999 NI).

Non-Assisted entries usually entail the entrant working their own way in and out of the confined space.  These are usually (but not always) mainly lateral entries.

Learners will cover legislation, guidance and best practice.  With elements including risk assessment, hazard identification, classifying confined spaces, safely entering a medium risk confined space, safe systems of works, method statements, control measures, atmospheric monitors, escape breathing apparatus, emergency first aid, casualty handling, effective communications, emergency and non-emergency scenarios and rescue from medium risk confined spaces.

Rescue is a vital part of all confined space working, regardless of the level of risk.  The regulations state that rescue must be planned for prior to entry and that the equipment and adequately training personnel must be immediately available for rescue if needed.
